BJJ Black Belt Under Cláudio Joanino
Luan Carvalho, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, trained under Master Cláudio Joanino at the renowned Nova União academy in Macaé. His journey to success was an exceptional one, as he spent his colored belt career relatively unknown. However, everything changed after his impressive performance at the 2015 Pan American Championship, where he caught the attention of many by defeating the decorated veteran, Rodrigo Caporal. Following this breakthrough, Carvalho continued to excel throughout the year. He secured victories at the Rio Fall Open and the Brazilian Nationals, defeating two former champions, Michael Langhi and Juan Caio Kamezawa. These triumphs solidified his reputation as one of the most skilled lightweights of his generation, proving that hard work and determination can lead to greatness, even after starting in relative obscurity.
Fábio Andrade
BJJ Black Belt under Daniel Almeida
Fábio Andrade is highly esteemed in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, particularly within the Nova Uniao camp, where he has played a pivotal role in reshaping the team's roster in recent years. Recognized by Protocolo BJJ, Andrade is acknowledged for his remarkable ability to nurture new talent through his social project academy located in Bangu, a neighborhood in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. His track record includes producing outstanding fighters like Kaue Damasceno, Isaque Bahiense, Iris Batista, and the exceptionally talented Márcio André, among numerous others. Fabio Andrade's main achievements in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu include: World Cup Champion (2006 brown belt) - CBJJO Pan American Champion (2007 brown belt) - CBJJE 'Sul Brasileiro' Champion (2011 black belt) - CBJJ These achievements showcase his excellence in the sport and highlight his success at various prestigious competitions.
